Truth & Justice
“Be just—it is closer to taqwa.”
al-Ma’idah: 8
Now more than ever we are keenly aware of the need for truth and justice to be established. This month, join our vibrant discussion-based live class to discover what the Quran tells us about truth and justice.
Some of the topics we will explore:
What are the different words and phrases used to describe justice in the Quran?
What is the connection between injustice and shirk—ascribing partners to Allah?
What can we discover from the Quran about the everyday ways we can establish justice?
How does our own greed lead to injustice?
What we will learn is that the Quran shows us that justice on a large scale starts from justice on a small scale, and when we each play our part in enacting truth and justice in our own lives, Allah will bless the ummah with the establishment of justice on a global level.
Grab your Qur’an journals, your highlighters and pens, and get ready to interact with the Quran up close and get to know its message through active engagement with the words in a class of passionate peers.

What Can You Expect?
These are samples of the teacher’s notes from other courses, demonstrating to students how they can interact with the Quranic text. In this one note-taking document, they learn Arabic & tafseer; they practice
reflecting on the verses; and they make connections between the verses:
Not your ordinary tafseer—this is an example of creating connections
between verses. Here, we graphically illustrated the connections between concepts in the adjoining surahs Asr, Humazah, and Takathur:
Learning How
to Learn
Students will receive handouts with plenty of space for note-taking. During the recorded sessions, Sr. Merium models notetaking, mind-mapping, and reflection skills. This helps students learn how to engage with the information and gives them tools for note-taking in other disciplines. The notes you see on this image were taken during the course of a class discussion from another Juz Amma course and represent a combination of the teacher’s instruction and student reflections on the surah.

The main lessons are live, but you will be able to access the recordings outside of class as well as any supplementary material that will be added to the portal.
