Learning about Our Messenger
The goal of this course is not facts and dates. Instead, we want to look at the seerah as a way to learn the love and appreciation for our beloved Messenger ﷺ as well as practical life lessons.
“To love him, you must know him.”
RasulAllah ﷺ … is he another person to us? Or does our love for him flow through our veins and inform our character? Seerah is not just a story—it’s a link to understanding, loving, and obeying the greatest man who ever lived.
Why this Course?
Did you know that there is a link between Prophet Ibrahim ﷺ, the people of the ditch in Surah al-Buruj, the people of the Elephant in Surah al-Fil, and the tribe of the Prophet ﷺ as described in Surah Quraysh?
We will embark on this miraculous journey, then travel through the years of the Prophet as he grows up, marries, and finds his life changed with one word: Iqra—Read.
Hearts pounding, we will see as he and his loyal group of believers are slandered, tortured, and tested. We will witness their resilience and steadfastness in spreading the faith.
This is the Makkan period of the life of the Messenger, the foundational years of his transformative message.

I have been teaching Islamic studies, Quran, Arabic, and Language Arts for over 20 years.
I use Socratic-style dialogue with my students to draw out their ideas and thoughts about the subject matter. I believe in stretching and challenging students in their thinking and writing. Reading great literature leads to great writing, which is why I incorporate literature and writing together to help students learn techniques from the authors we study.
I am somewhat of a “Shakespeare Whisperer.” Kids leave my classes loving the Bard. I infuse my classes with my passion for Shakespeare’s work and I bring his words to life with color, sound, and video so that kids can see that Shakespeare is fun and accessible.
I have two children who are homeschool graduates now in college, and a high schooler. I currently teach 9th grade language arts and history at a local Islamic School.
